The trailer for the new short film "Midnight Showing" by RM Productions is now online!

"Midnight Showing" tells the story of Detective Joanna Rains and her quest to solve the Donnelson drug case ravaging the greater Los Angeles area.  When she returns, however, she not only finds the most challenging case she's ever faced, but also taht her former partner is now the lieutenant of the precinct - and her boss.  With direction by Rob Brownstein and original score by C.S. Elliot, "Midnight Showing" is my first endeavor as writer/producer from stage to screen.  And I play a cop.

Why Did You Do That?

August 12, 2012
Last weekend, team Midnight Melange participated in the Los Angeles 48 Hour Film Project, in which we had to write, shoot, edit and score a 4-7 minute short film in 48 hours.  Simple?  Sure - until we were assigned Genre: Family Film, Prop: Bottle, Line: Why did you do that?, and Character: Denise/David Stott, athletic coach.  The task was great, but Midnight Melange came out on top, producing a unique yet poignant family film, and as team leader, I was beyond proud of our cast and crew.  "<3 thy neighbor" tells the story of a grumpy retiree, Charles, who begrudgingly learns the value of family from his young, upstart neighbor, Mike. Within the cast of 9, I played a business woman, Reese, who among other things is responsible for delivering the pivotal line.  "<3 thy neighbor" is set to screen Tuesday, August 14th at 9:30pm in Los Angeles.  For tickets, go to: http://www.laemmle.com/viewtheatre.php?thid=22

Title IX Tribute

July 29, 2012
In honor of the US Women's Basketball Team, I just booked a short film about young female ballplayers.  Written by Remi Long, "Believe" follows the story of an underprivileged hopeful (Jane) who learns how to step up her game with the help of a more experienced player (Malory).  Wish me luck as I step back on the court to take on the fun role of Malory!

I Don't Even Know His Last Name...I Don't Think...

July 21, 2012
Waking up in the morning to find yourself naked under the sheets and a pair of unknown jockeys thrown across the covers?  I can relate!  Last month, I filmed a short comedic scene with BiKi Films in which Mel, recently separated from her husband, is awakened by her best friend Samantha and realizes last night was more than a night out on the town. And now last night's mysterious treat is in her shower...  Fellow Okie Carrie Underwood would be proud!  Check out the full clip here

A New Take on a Classic

March 7, 2012
This spring, the Mechanicals Theatre Group will be mounting a newly envisioned production of Bernard Pomerance's classic play, "The Elephant Man."  Set in late 19th century London, "Elephant Man" recounts the real-life story of John Merrick, a man with severe deformities, and Frederick Treves, the surgeon and teacher dedicated to helping him lead a "normal" life.  Directed by Neil Patrick Stewart and produced by Monica Raymund, the show will preview April 13th and open the 14th for a month-long run at the Pico Playhouse.  Cast as the Bishop and a Pinhead, I have an exciting bit of work ahead of me!

Flash to the Past

February 19, 2012
The LA premier reading of David Misch's "Occupied" went off without a hitch!  Directed by Tony Abatemarco and produced by the Katselas Theatre Company's INKubator program, the reading took place Saturday, January 28th at the Skylight Theater in Los Feliz. Following a 1970 anti-Vietnam demonstration a group of students occupy the President's office erupting in a romantic comedy-drama chock-full of sex, drugs, rock and revolution. I was excited to make my KTC debut as Tina, the good-hearted, bubbly college student who trust that destiny will bring only good but enjoys it all.

Under the Sea!

February 8, 2012
Seven days in paradise and a natural response would be to RELAX.

But that's not me.  I enjoyed the tropics of Maui in the sun and under the water as I learned the sport of scuba diving.  It was a lot of reading, tricky tests, and heart-racing emergency exercises, but the beauty of the underwater world made it all worthwhile.

I am now an officially-certified PADI Open Water Diver!

The Shrew Strikes at the Picture Show

November 30, 2011
Sunday, "The Picture Show," a new project by ND Made, wrapped its first volume with the shoot of "Taming of the Shrew." Directed by Rob Brownstein, the scene starred Darius Frye as Petruchio and Rachael Meyers as Katherine, with a special guest appearance by the voice of Damian - also our location host for the day.  Transferring the story to Texas oil country yet retaining Shakespeare's original verse, the filmmakers and cast brought a new a delightful twist to the infamous first scene of the play where Kate and Petruchio exchange blows - er - hellos.  With a cast standing over 6'2", it was truly a clash of the titans.

Stay tuned for video footage and updates!
